Rodney is General Manager, Partnerships at Plant Health Australia (PHA). His role covers PHA’s involvement in Plant Health Committee (PHC) and a number of PHC’s task specific working groups. Rodney’s role also includes work with PHA’s industry members on levy programs and work with Animal Health Australia on the Farm Biosecurity Program.
He provides the overarching management of National Fruit Fly Council and is the PHA representative on the Council.
Rodney is also Chair of the Australian Fruit Fly Technical Advisory Committee which is reviewing the old Code of Practice for fruit flies and modernising it into a contemporary quality assurance structure.
He is Independent Chair of the Sub Committee on Domestic Quarantine and, in collaboration with PHC, he is leading the review of the Interstate Trade Certification Assurance system.
Rodney is currently overseeing the review and development of the National Plant Biosecurity Strategy and its three sub-strategies (diagnostics, surveillance and preparedness).
He also leads a number of specific projects within PHA such as the Australian Plant Pest Database (APPD) and the Pest and Disease Image Library (PaDIL).
