Qfly backyard management guideRiverina Fruit Fly Campaign Coordinator, Tammy Galvin, has produced a two page guide for backyard fruit and vegetable growers about how to manage Queensland fruit fly.

The guide gives advice on monitoring for fruit fly using traps and sampling fruit for the appearance of larvae (maggots). It also includes backyard treatments for fruit fly infestations, protein bait spraying to control numbers, and integrated pest management techniques to protect fruit and vegetables from attack by fruit fly.

This is important advice for backyard growers because state governments are no longer controlling fruit fly, leaving communities with the responsibility to take care of it themselves.
